Prof. Dr. Wolfram Mauser is Associate Member of GERICS. Since 1991 Prof. Dr Mauser has been teaching and researching at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, Chair for Geography and Remote Sensing.

With his scientific background in physics, geography and hydrology his research interests include the consequences of climate change for water supplies and nutrition and observing human intervention in nature through the use of satellite data.

Between 2003 and 2008 he chaired the National Committee for Global Change Research for the German Research Foundation and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. From 2008 until 2013 he was chairman of the scientific advisory board for the latter’s KLIMZUG network. Dr. Mauser is a member of UNESCO’s High Panel on Science for Sustainable Development. In addition to heading up numerous research projects for a range of funding bodies, from 2001 until 2010 he was coordinator of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s GLOWA-Danube climate adaptation research programme. Since 2013 he is Chair of the „Earth Science Advisory Committee“ of the European Space Agency ESA in Frascati, Italy.

We are very pleased to have Prof. Dr. Ioannis Tsanis as an Associate Fellow Member of GERICS. Dr. Tsanis is a Full Professor in the School of Environmental Engineering at Technical University of Crete in Chania, Greece and a Professor Emeritus at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He published 3 books and over 300 scientific papers and reports and has participated as coordinator or partner in over 60 research projects in the thematic areas of hydroinformatics, integrated water resources management and coastal areas, extreme events (floods and droughts), climate change and impacts, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling and satellite remote sensing.

The last 10 years he was involved in FP6 (WATCH, HYDRATE, SCENES) and FP7 (COMBINE, ECLISE, IMPACT2C, CASCADE, HELIX) projects, European Space Agency (ESA) (SIMFLOOD), GSRT ARISTEIA II Action (REINFORCE) and bilateral cooperation projects (Greece& USA/Canada, Cyprus (FLASH FLOOD FORECASTING, SATFLOOD) and a European Economic Area (AQUAMAN) grant.

Dr. Tsanis is currently involved in FP7 (RECARE) and Horizon2020 (IMPREX, SOILCARE) projects . Dr. Tsanis is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Hydrology and the Climate Services Journal and a member of EURO-CORDEX, MedCLIVAR, HYMEX, HEPEX, McMaster Centre for Climate Change in Canada and European Drought Center (EDC).
